Electrifying the Iponri Market
The target is to electrify twelve markets by 2019 equipped with BOS Systems. As part of this project, 450 stores in the Iponri market in Lagos now benefit from a renewable and stable power supply. Businesses are mainly souvenir shops, electronic products, tailoring, financial and printing services. With remote monitoring functions, all important system information and energy consumption can be read. PAYG makes it possible for customers to book their current contracts in advance on there mobile phone or in the service center. The prices for the shop owner are well below the costs of the old diesel generators.

BOS Lithium Extension Batteries
INDIA | Together with the German Energy Agency (dena) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), a renewable energy solution project was initiated in 2017 in India in order to electrify a village with limited access to the existing grid.
The selected village in Uttar Pradesh has approximately 100 households. Thanks to the intelligent DC mini grid and renewable electricity produced using photovoltaic modules, the households’ basic electrification needs could be covered and the village’s water supply improved with solar pump systems. At the same time, investment costs stayed low, as highly efficient DC loads (such as LED lamps and low power consumption fans) require smaller solar systems.
With the support of our local partner Oorja to operate the grid service, training and maintenance work are guaranteed. The entire system is designed to deliver affordable, reliable and sustainable electricity for ten years.
This project is part of the worldwide dena Renewable Energy Solutions Programme coordinated by Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena) – the German Energy Agency – and co-financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) within the German Energy Solutions Initiative.
Health care in rural African regions is a
big challenge. The focus in this project
was on clinics which are off-grid,
very remote and take care of many communities.
People depend on the health
posts and often have to walk many miles
to get medical help. No power affected
Lukolongo as well as Chisakila, Mbimbe
and Munyeo in Zambia. With BOS Hybrid
Systems all four health posts and the
doctor housing get power for lights, fans
and the ability to store medicines and
vaccinations in a refrigerator.
With electrification, a first important step
was set for quality medical care and to
support the communities.
Uganda is the third-largest refugee-hosting country in Africa. Basic needs such as water, food, and electricity are hard to tackle in these camps. 70% of the refugees depend on organizations like the World Food Programme (WFP). To support the WFP, we equipped tents from Hallgruppen with our turnkey BOS solar storage solution. For the installation, we partnered up with the local electricity partner Aptech. Now WFP can store food and supplies safely and have access to reliable and clean energy. The remote monitoring system helps to control the energy and system performance from anywhere in the world. Therefore Aptrech can monitor the system from everywhere, which makes servicing easy and efficient.
