Profit is important for a company, but in order to move forward in a meaningful way, the aspects People and Planet must be taken into account and optimized equally.
Our CEO Benjamin Seckinger tells in a radio interview with Free FM how he wants to turn a business idea into a real sustainable change. Listen to the whole interview (the interview is in German) from the show “Lokaltermin” with radio presenter Lotte Stevens
BOS Balance of Storage Systems AG is entering the Honduran energy market. Through its pilot projects they are installing the first solar storage systems that have been specially adapted for the Latin American market. As part of the Renewable Energy Solutions (RES) programme of the German Energy Agency (dena), the young company from Bavaria, along with its local partner Innovative Business Solutions (IBS), has installed five of its HS business10 systems in hotels and town halls. Each of the all-in-one systems has 10240Wh of lithium storage and the solar electronics required.
Reliable power, functioning energy infrastructure and independence from diesel generators. This is what many Hondurans want and need to keep their businesses, institutions, and homes running. With our solar storage systems, we provide a solution that meets their needs. Together with our local partner Innovative Business Solutions (IBS) and as a part of the dena Renewable Energy Solutions Programme, we have chosen five pilot locations in the country to demonstrate our technology. Three hotels and two municipalities now run with a BOS solar storage system. The results: Lower electricity bills, uninterrupted power supply and cleaner air.
The succesful mini grid and micro utility projects are technically robust, commercially attractive and sustainable in long-term. One such minigrid was installed in Nigeria in the sprawling Sabon Gari market (Kano) with 1.6 MWp of PV with 1.6MWhr Lithium storage from BOS AG. More details on the following blog by our technology partner Victron Energy! Read the full blog here
Until Sunday 29.09. the whole world of water sports can be admired at INTERBOOT in Friedrichshafen and we from BOS AG will be part of it.
Together with our partner Ferropilot, we present our LE300 Lithium Extension Battery at the booth of Ultramarin Meichle + Mohr. Expand very easily your existing lead acid battery with a lighter and safe LE300 Lithium Extension Battery for more capacity and better performance.
Convince yourself and visit us at booth A3-406. Our team is exited to meeting you!
We can almost not believe that BOS AG celebrates its 5th anniversary today. The success story began on 1 July 2014 in a small town in Bavaria. Three guys decided to put their innovative ideas and dreams into practice and founded BOS. 5 years later we would like to thank our team, the investors and partners who took part in this amazing journey with us. We are looking forward to the next exciting years.
Norway is known for its natural wonders such as fjords, mountains and northern lights. If you go on a tour in the nature you often spend the night in one of the numerous huts and experience the beautiful nature far away from civilization. But especially for the hut owners this also means away from any electricity connection. After the Grimsdalshytta built a new winter drying room, the owner decided on a solar system that has to work in winter. Therefore, they decided to install our HS500 hybrid storage system. Due to the very short sun duration the solar panels were installed very steeply and with large surface and by a special cold insulation for the HS system, it resists also in the winter problem-free. Local electricians have been trained in the technology so that maintenance and repairs can be carried out quickly.
From now on the new drying room will be supplied with light in winter and guests can recharge their mobile phones and cameras to be prepared for the breath taking nature.
We congratulate our partner Hymer on winning the German Innovation Award 2019 in the “Excellence in Business to Business” category. The HYMER-Smart-Battery-System convinced the jury as a innovative solution for energy storage in leisure vehicles. The batteries enable “weight saving of at least 5 kg with almost double the capacity “, according to the jury. A unique solution in which energy is stored in both lithium and lead acid batteries and their load distribution is intelligently regulated. The BOS Lithium Extension Batteries LE300 modules are the main component of the HYMER-Smart-Battery-System.
BOS AG (Balance of Storage Systems AG) are a supplier of products and services for off-grid energy solutions. Based in Neu-Ulm near Munich in Germany and founded in 2014, the aim of this young company is to become a leader in decentralised energy supply. Their focus is on Li-Pb (lithium-lead) hybrid charging technology for solar systems which support intelligent load management. As BOS use Victron Energy products in their systems it was good to hear from one of their staff and to gain insight into how Victron products are integrated into their solutions. My thanks to Bob Hopman of Victron Energy for making me aware of this project. Here then is a guest blog, by Veeresh Anehosur of BOS, about a mini-grid on Kenti island in the Mergui Archipelago.
The passionate sailor Peter Reinmann extended his lead acid energy storage of his 9.30 meter long sailing catamaran with two BOS LiFePO4 Lithium modules. Peter is thus able to operate all the on-board electronics such as navigation, radio, light, refrigerator and gas heating. Because there was no room under the bench seat for a larger supply battery, a LE300 hybrid system was the perfect solution without loosing too much space. Now he is able to enjoy longer trips on the water without returning for recharge. A freedom that he no longer wants to miss.
Driving from Lake Constance, over Russia to the North Cape and back, was a special experience for our BOS Electronic Developer Lars and his team Schwabenstahl Volvo Power. With temperatures down to -27°C the Baltic Sea Circle Winter Edition was probably the coldest rally in the world. Additionally, being on road with more than 20 years old Volvos, without any GPS and no highways allowed, the rally had his challenges. For 16 days the cars became their chosen transport and homes. But especially at this trip, there was not completely everything old fashioned.
